TORRANCE, Calif., July 15, 2024 - Torrance Theatre Company announces THE LITTLE MERMAID, Music by Alan Menken, Lyrics by Howard Ashman & Glenn Slater, and Book by Doug Wright as its annual summer musical. Performances will begin on August 3, 2024, and set to run through August 17, 2024. The beloved Disney classic production will play at the James R. Armstrong Theatre, located at 3330 Civic Center Drive.
From her magical kingdom home under the sea, the beautiful young mermaid princess Ariel dreams of becoming human and living in the world she loves from afar. Based on the popular fairy tale by Hans Christian Andersen and the 1989 classic animated film, Disney’s THE LITTLE MERMAID is a timeless story that the entire family will enjoy. With music by eight-time Academy® Award winner Alan Menken, this Broadway musical features hit songs such as “Part of Your World,” “Poor Unfortunate Souls” and “Under the Sea,” as well as unforgettable characters.
The Little Mermaid is directed by Glenn Kelman, choreographed by Katisha Adams, and music and vocal direction by Bradley Hampton. The production will feature a live sixteen-piece orchestra and will feature performances by Hannah Kobayashi, Quinn Knox, James Hormel, Chris Tiernan, and Steven Flowers. Children ages thirteen and under who attend in costume will be invited onstage after every performance for a group photo with cast members.
