The Torrance Police Department, in collaboration with the Los Angeles Organized Retail Crime Task Force, arrested two suspects for an extensive organized retail theft series throughout Southern California. The suspects, Arrestee Andrew Munns of Los Angeles and Arrestee Desmond Singleton, of Harbor City, committed retail theft crimes throughout the Counties of Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, and San Diego.
The crime series, which lasted more than 2 years and included over 30 crimes, targeted supermarkets and other retail establishments. Suspects in the series would enter employee-only areas such as stockrooms and office spaces to commit thefts.
Investigators from various agencies assigned to the Los Angeles Organized Retail Crime Task Force, which includes a Torrance Detective, identified the suspects in this series and served search warrants on their residences on April 18, 2024. As a result of the search warrants, suspected stolen property was recovered, a firearm and other evidence linking the suspects to the series. Andrew Munns was arrested for 21 counts of Organized Retail Theft and one count of robbery. Desmond Singleton was arrested for nine counts of Organize Retail Theft. Both arrestees are being held on $1,000,000 bail. The case has been submitted for filing with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.
The Torrance Police Department is grateful to partner with the various law enforcement agencies comprised in this Los Angeles County Organized Retail Crime Task Force.
