Torrance, Calif., September 18, 2023 – The North Torrance Library is excited to announce the relaunch and reopening of their Homework Center, an important resource for students of all ages and abilities. City officials, staff and community members helped celebrate with a ribbon cutting ceremony this afternoon.

North Torrance Library is one of the oldest branches in the Torrance Public Library system. While the building opened in 1965, significant renovations took place in 2010 with the enclosure of the front patio space. The distinctive mural that depicts the history of writing from papyrus to digital technology can be found on the exterior wall of the building. Additional shelving and book collections were also added during the most recent upgrade.

Thanks to the partnership with the Torrance Refining Company, the North Torrance Library’s Homework Center is able to keep pace with modern technology and current educational requirements. In additional to the laptop lending and printing that student are able to access, new and updated STEM and STEAM (Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math) kits have been purchased and made available for circulation to extend learning beyond the library. In addition, more items have been added to the library’s collection for use by area students ensuring that the community is well supported in their learning journey.

North Torrance Library is one of six branches in Torrance and operates under the City’s Community Services Department. North Torrance Library is located at 3604 Artesia Boulevard. They’re open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Homework Center is open during business hours and is now available to the community. Residents are encouraged to sign up for a library card in order to check out new books, use the Homework Center, or any of the great resources the Torrance Library has to offer.
