Press Release: Torrance Named Finalist for LAEDC's 2023 Eddy Awards for "Most Business-Friendly City"

Torrance, Calif., August 21, 2023 – The City of Torrance is proud to announce it was named a finalist in the Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation’s coveted Eddy Awards in the “Most Business-Friendly City” category. This year marks the organization’s 28th year honoring economic development champions in Los Angeles County. Through the lengthy application process, the City was recognized for their ongoing commitment to providing business resiliency resources, assistance, and support to the local economy.

The Eddy Awards supports the LAEDC’s mission to help reinvent the local economy and collaboratively advance growth and prosperity, working to create more equity and inclusion in the County’s diverse business communities. The 2023 Eddy Awards takes place on Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at SoFi Stadium. Each year, more than 600 of the region’s leading business, government, civic, and educational leaders attend this annual event.

LAEDC named Torrance among the five finalist cities which were announced today. Those include the cities of Carson, Glendale, Long Beach, and Norwalk. All finalists will be given a plaque and a scroll from Los Angeles County in acknowledgment and celebration of providing business resiliency resources and assistance.

The Los Angeles County Economic Development Corporation was established in 1981 by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. The 501c3 non-profit group works to attract and grow new business in the Los Angeles region, stimulate the job market, and collaborate with communities, government, business, and education partners.
