SAVE THE DATE: Coastal Cleanup Day at Torrance Beach
Coastal Clean Up Day is the largest volunteer day on the planet, which is coordinated with the Ocean Conservancy, California Coastal Commission, L.A. Department of Beaches and Harbors and Heal the Bay, and we thank them for their continued support and guidance in helping us making this event a huge success every year. Torrance recognizes that by cleaning up the beaches, the community is participating in this global effort to keep our oceans healthy, to keep our water source healthy, and to keep our community healthy. As Covid restrictions have lifted across the state, many local organizers will be returning to in-person cleanups, depending on their local conditions. Partnering with the Torrance Area Chamber of Commerce, Team Torrance will be back on the beach participating for our record 26th year! This year's event will take place on Saturday, September 23rd, 2023, from 9:00AM to 12:00PM at Miramar Park in Torrance.
As many know, Torrance Beach typically brings in 500-700 volunteers each event. At our recent Open House event last month, close to 100 community members already signed up for this year’s Beach Cleanup event!
Volunteers will have the opportunity to apply Leadership, organizational and communication skills, as well as work directly with team members, City staff, elected officials, the Torrance Chamber of Commerce, and the Torrance Community. Local businesses, key club groups, schools, teams, and more are encouraged to get involved in the biggest cleanup of the year! Students can also earn up to three hours community service credit.
