On Friday, August 24, 2018, members of the Torrance Police Department will attend a ceremony at Wilson Park (located at 2200 Crenshaw Boulevard) to honor first responders who have lost their lives helping others on roadways.  The focal point of the ceremony is the “Spirit Casket.”  The “Spirit Casket” represents every Tow Truck Driver, Public Transportation Service worker, Firefighter, and Police Officer across the nation killed by motorists.  The message remains, “Slow Down, Move Over.” 
 
The ceremony will commence around 2:00 PM and is scheduled to conclude by 3:00 PM.  After the ceremony, Torrance Police Motor Officers will escort the “Spirit Casket” from Wilson Park back to the 405 Freeway & Crenshaw Boulevard on-ramp to continue its journey.
