TORRANCE, Calif., July 9, 2018 – The City of Torrance is proud to announce that the Torrance Fire Department has once again been awarded a Class One Rating by the Insurance Services Office. This rating is the highest possible rating that can be given to any fire department nationwide. The Insurance Services Office (ISO) is a nationwide rating service used by insurance companies to help establish local business and residential property insurance rates.
Fire Chief Martin Serna said, “This is a proud milestone for the Torrance Fire Department that marks 23 years straight of attaining a Class One Rating.” The Torrance Fire Department has been a Class One Department since 1995. The ratings process involves a periodic, detailed analysis of all Fire Department operations. Also evaluated was the City’s water system and emergency 911 communications system; thus, showing a collective effort to help attain this achievement.
“The City of Torrance has always taken great pride in delivering the highest level of protection to the community.” Chief Serna added. “And now property owners can continue to reap the benefits of this City’s investment in a strong Fire Department infrastructure.”
In addition to excellent fire protection, Torrance Fire also provides highly skilled Emergency Medical Services, Emergency Response and Training, and Risk Reduction teams. It should also be noted that there are only 60 Class One rated fire departments of the over 30,000 fire departments nationwide.
