Torrance, Calif., June 12, 2018 – Torrance CitiCABLE, the government access cable television channel for the City of Torrance, recently won 7 States of California and Nevada Television Access Recognition (STAR) Awards for excellence in local programming. Torrance competed against stations operating with an overall operating budget of more than $400,000.  There were 314 entries representation stations in California and Nevada.

CitiCABLE took first place honors in Live News for NEWSBREAK LIVE; News Weekly for This Week in Torrance; News – Single Story; and Sports Show for The SportsDesk.

Torrance CitiCABLE was also recognized for Faces of Torrance - Street Racing Kills and Community Cooking 49.17.

The STAR Awards were established in 1996 to recognize outstanding programs produced by public, educational and/or government access facilities serving California and Nevada communities.
